Dr Lucy's Family Reunites June 12!!

Donation protected
In June 2017 our British daughter Lucy and her American husband Jason, their daughter Robin (10) and son Gabriel (7) applied for the family to immigrate to the UK. The application failed, but was granted on appeal, one day after a second application was successful. The family arrives one year to the day after Lucy left them in California

Lucy left California to start her new job as a Veterinarian in Torquay, England.  They sold their home, and moved everything to the UK. Lucy found a home for the family in nearby Teignmouth, unpacked all the boxes, and set up bedrooms for the children. Then she enrolled them in school  for September, thinking they would all be together again by July - August at the latest - it was just a formality, or so they thought.

Unfortunately at the end of September, after months of silence, and no questions asked of them, the family's application to the Home Office was  rejected out of hand.
A simple missing document that could easily have been requested was the only reason for rejection.

Naturally Lucy contacted her friends and family in horror. We all pulled together to find a good immigration lawyer, and paid the lawyer 1000 pounds to file an appeal. The  appeal filed in October 2017 was on human rights grounds -  how long should officials keep a mother separated from her children? It included the missing pieces of paper, signed statements from Lucy's and Jason's friends,  families, pastors, and employers past and present. Unfortunately there has been to date no response from the Home Office. Their own internal deadlines have been exceeded by over a month.

Now that Dr Lucy has been working in  the UK for 6 months, she can sponsor a new application. The lawyers suggest the best course of action to re-unite the family as fast as possible is to abandon the appeal, and start a new expedited application, through the lawyers this time. They expect this application to succeed.

But
New applications cost     3600 pounds
Expediting Fees  cost       1500 pounds
NHS Contribution is        1800 pounds
Legal Fees cost                    3000 pounds

With all these costs the total will be 10,500 pounds.

Unfortunately Lucy just does not have the money.
But thankfully she has found someone who is willing and able to loan her the whole amount straight away. Lucy will of course need to repay that loan.

It would ease this large burden if some  of you were able to contribute - every little helps.
