Help My Dad Walk Again

Six months ago, my father experienced a horrific event.  A dentist, father, and friend fainted, and woke up feeling confused, pained, and trapped. In his own body. Fate has touched him with a challenge. We can help him overcome. 

Hello. My name is Jonny Liem. I'm a nursing student and massage therapist. Several months ago my father had a stroke. He had run a successful dental practice for many years, and was working on a patient when he collapsed. 

We thought it was exhaustion or just fainting. It wasn't. It was a stroke. He was taken to the local hospital and hours later to a larger trauma center. 

He has since started his long road to recovery. It's hard for his to speak sometimes, and his whole right side was affected. Thanks to the physical therapy, he can walk with diffculty. 

We're gonna change this.

I want to give him back his ability to walk. There is a device that uses electricity to contract the muscles of the leg to help a person lift the foot. What sucks is that the insurance will not cover this. The unit costs 10,000 to buy or $500 a month to rent. I want to help. However, I cannot until I get a job as a nurse, and that will not be until after next year. 

My family needs this as soon as possible. My father deserves to walk, so he can next work on getting his right arm functioning. 

Imagine not being able to walk. He has gone from being a leader in his church, a dentist that had a successful practice for over 20 years, and a father that supported his family, to not being able to walk, talk properly, and being dependent on my family.  We are not rich. We are trying to afford the additional 500 a month. 

If all of my friends gave $5 once, we would have enough to keep him in this device for almost a year. Even $3 helps. You have my thanks and I will be in your debt. I want to surprise him, and post the videos of him walking on Facebook and YouTube.
