Female Fabricator's Flight to Learn!

Donation protected
The smell distinct, the smoke clears, and the heat will diminish as I look at the fused metal that I just created with a MiG Welder. Tightening that last bolt on a build that took over a year, the feeling of an engine starting for first time, the accomplishment, determination, and sticking with it until the goal is completed. Reaching for a dream is not always the easiest road to go down, but the rewards of steadfast efforts is worth it. From the beginning, my family has introduced, taught, and enticed me with the sound of a V8 engine. Kadakle, Kadakle, Kadakle, as the engine would lope from the large cam. There is no other sound that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand tall, or gets my full attention as it passes me by. Ever since I can remember I have been in the garage with my family, and it has been a passion for many years. I finally can reach further than I ever thought possible. The opportunity is within my grasps, and the only thing holding me back is the traveling expenses.

These opportunities will not only benefit me, but also the local ladies that would like to learn more about the automotive field, welding, and off roading. Bringing back the knowledge from  all the ladies I will get to meet from all over the country.  These ladies have also put there sweat and tears into this industry. I being the president of the Southern Tier Off Road Club of New York can lead ladies to better opportunities in return. I am teaming up with some of our local amazing ladies and passing down what we have all learned in our adventures. This May will be our Women’s Wheeling Day to teach and encourage ladies to step out of their comfort zone. If I can raise enough money to pay for the travel expenses this will open a lot more doors not just for me, but for all the ladies I can get involved.

My opportunities start in March, the first is hosted by Bogi Lateiner from All Girls Garage and is an all-women’s build of a 1957 Chevy Montage that will be all over the internet, magazines, and reviled at SEMA 2017.  There are many different levels of ladies involved, and I am extremely excited to be able to meet and learn from everyone. This is truly a dream come true to have this opportunity right in front of me, and I can’t believe it’s really a possibility. I got this opportunity offered to me, because I took second place in the Women’s Welding Contest hosted by Cora Jokinen of Torq-Masters, and Charlene Bower of the Ladies Off Road Network.

Next is the Ladies Off Road Garage with Fab School in California hosted by Charlene Bower. This is huge and extremely exciting. Charlene Bower is an incredible inspiration to so many of us ladies, if you haven't already, I'd recommend you check her out. She has started and successful run many of her own businesses, and took first place in the Rebelle Rally last year. I am honored to be able to attend her (Fabrication) Fab School event in California where I, among other ladies will be helping to build the Ladies Off Road Vehicle that will be featured throughout the year. There will be hands on training, and fabrication classes that will help us to make the Ladies Off Road vehicle even that much better.

In addition to the Ladies Off Road Garage, there is the all Ladies Off Road Convention in Colorado that will also help so many ladies, and I will be volunteering to help if I can. I would like to help as many ladies as I can that want to learn more about the automotive, welding, and the off-road industry. With these opportunities, I will be bringing all my learned experience to our local area, and setting up our own local events to help ladies learn. I will also be able to share all the opportunities that could also come their way.

This is something I am very passionate about, and would appreciate all the help I can get to make this dream a reality. If you can donate even as little as $5.00, it all adds up, and I would appreciate it more than I can even say. I promise if I can go I will bring a lot back to our local area.
