Dream board fund

£1,425 of £4,000 goal

Raised by 64 people in 39 months
Firstly let me begin with the bad news, on Monday the 2nd of November 2015 my family and I were struck with the worst news we could have possibly received, our mother (Jennifer Conway aged just 53) was diagnosed with terminal cancer of both the stomach and liver. She has been battling chronic back and leg pain for a number of years now and the amount of pain killers she had been proscribed had meant that the pain she should have been receiving from the early stages of the cancer were masked and went un-noticed until it was too late to do anything about. The doctors have said that without any chemotherapy she has about 6 months before the cancer overwhelms and ultimately takes her life. With chemotherapy they can’t say how long she has, but they have said that all it will do now is prolong the inevitable.

Now for the positive news, for a long time now mum has had a ‘dream board’ with pictures of life goals on it, there are all sorts of pictures, but to name just a few, there is a picture of a jaguar sports car, a picture of a country house, a picture of machu picchu and the word ‘family’ among other things.

Our goal now is to give mum the experience of as many of the things from her dream board and to make as many happy memories as possible in the time we have left together. So for example we would like to rent a jaguar for her for a weekend and to combine that with a stay in a country house. Machu picchu may be a little out of our reach given the trek up the mountain but there are other destination she holds close to her heart that may be in reach

We won’t be asking for anything for free as its probably unrealistic, however we would like to ask for your kindness and support in order to help us make her dreams come true. Now that’s not just a financial ask (although that plays a huge part) but maybe you have a contact that can help with the actual experiences we have in mind for her, any help in achieving these goals will be more than welcome

Final update!

It is with a heavy heart that i write this update.

The battle has been lost.

Although the stomach bypass was a success all was not well, it seems the cancer was advancing at a pace that nobody expected, a week after the opp the recovery was actualy a steady decline that gained pace, there was nothing the doctors could do

At exactly 4:30am on wednesday the 13th of january, jenny conway (mum) passed away

Her passing was pain free and she was without distress

We were overwhelmed with the generosity that came with our request for help and we would love to put the funds generated towards the cost of mums funeral, we believe she deserves a good send off and we hope you all agree

Mixed news in this update guys. Mum went into hospital about 2 weeks ago with what we thought was another infection, turned out the cancer had all but compleatly closed off the exit to her stomach, meaning food and drink could go in but had no where to go. After a few days in hospital the doctors told us that this wasnt a huge problem and could easily be fixed with ether a stent to open the blockage back up or a bypass to skip past the blockage. The stent would be the prefered option as the recovery time would be much quicker. The days passed and every day the doctors hoped they could fit her in to have one or other job done but (given the time of year) they stuggled to manage to do that. Due to a lack of competency and comunication at leighton with every day that passed she was still being kept 'nil by mouth' in the hope that they could squeeze her opp in, in this case they are suposed to fit whats called a centeral line that is basicaly a way of getting fluids, meds and nurishment directly into the body, this was never fitted!!! She had been left to starve for 12 days!!! We had grave concernes for her health as she was weakening by the day, we couldnt understand why they wud alow someone who needs to be as fit and healthy as they can be to fight the cancer to end up so weak that they cant even rase themselfs from bed, after numorous calls between the family and the hospital co-ordinators the ball started rolling, centeral line was fitted and finaly she went for the opp 2 nights ago. They had to go with a bypass as the blockage seems to be too compleat to fit a stent but ether way it was sucessfull and she is now recovering well. all focus is now on getting her strength back up ready to resume the chemo

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates recently, we are so overwhelmed with the continued support that we are recieving, not only finantial but in other ways too. Anyway, the reason for the lack of updates is that we havnt realy had much to update with as mum has spent the best part of a month in hospital now. 2 days after her first round of chemo she got sick and went into the countess of chester hospital where she spent 3 weeks fighting a blood infection, she has battled hard to fight this infection during a time when she must of been feeling terrible anyway, having been released only a few days ago she has then fallen ill again and been taken back to hospital (leighton this time) where they are currently trying to identify a new infection that she will have to battle with. I will make more of an effore to update everyone abit more frequently and would like to take this oppertunity to thank everyone for the help and support that my mother, sisters and i are recieving, we realy cant thank everyone enough, it means the world to us during this tough time
