Dr. Fongot Kinni-Yen Kinni passed on to glory on March 4, 2019. Before his passing, Dr. Kinni served as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at Bamenda University and lecturer of anthropology at the University of Buea.

Dr. Kinni was a prolific Cameroonian researcher, writer, designer, artist, musician, philosopher, and poet, who had traveled widely in Africa and the world.  He spent 26 years in Europe studying and researching and returned to Cameroon to share his treasure of knowledge. He was replete with love and resilience.

Dr. Kinni earned degrees, certificates, and diplomas in multidisciplinary fields—Philsophy and Theology, Sociology and Anthropology, Archaeology and History, Political Sciences and International Relations, Psychology, Linguistics, and International Law.

Dr. Kinni was a professor with stellar academic accomplishments that sought to instill the best academic rigors for his students. He challenged us to develop critical thinking skills. We are especially grateful to him for his years of service teaching generations of sociology and anthropology students at the University of Buea.

All funds raised will be used in honoring Dr. Kinni and bolstering his legacy. An award will be created called the "DR. KINNI AWARD FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE." The beneficiary will be the best graduating student of sociology and anthropology at the University of Buea. The inaugural award will be given in December 2019.

Raymond Enone, former president (2006-2007) of the University of Buea Sociology & Anthropology Network (UBSAN) is responsible for withdrawing and disbursing the funds directly to the scholarship.
