Who doesn’t love to hear the miracle of adoption? Our hearts warm as we listen to the details of how it all happened. But...after the warm fuzzies are just memories for those of us on the outside of this miracle, the adoptive parents and child (ren) are on a difficult journey of healing trauma from the loss that is also part of the adoption story. This journey can last much longer than anticipated in many cases. The expense can be much more than expected. But the rewards? So worth it!

Doyle and Teresa Decker are still in the trenches with this important work. In 2007 they were privileged to adopt two children from the Navajo Nation. After maxing out their credit cards and using any other funding they can think of, they are still facing a huge need to continue therapy for their son. Their daughter, too, needs a little more help than they originally thought. If they are to function as loving adults in the not to distant future, more healing needs to take place.

Not all of us are called to adopt, but we are all called to help the orphan in whatever way God places it in our hearts. Anything you feel to give will be appreciated so much! Prayers are also appreciated as they navigate this way before them.
