Zachary (4yrs old) and Zoey (2yrs old) Downing have been suffering from illness's resulting in numerous hospital visits that have turned the Downing's everyday routine, upside down.
The Downings are a Christ centered family that continue to follow and trust God and His works through these scary, hard times, fully believing and knowing that His timing, and His plans far exceed what they could ever imagine for their 3 children.
Zachary has been in and out of the hospital several times since June, with a lot of his visits lasting several days. Which has resulted in a battle of who will stay with him while hes there, who will stay with the other kiddos, and how will they possibly make it to work. He was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, which is a rare condition that causes swelling and inflammation of the walls of his blood vessels. It also affects the mucous membranes, lymph nodes, skin and heart. While he was in Helen Devos, he received two IV treatments, each lasting 12 hours, followed another 8 hour treatment.
Since Zachary has been discharged from the hospital he has had multiple doctors visits and several ECHOs done for his heart, to ensure that the disease not spread or effected his heart.
Two weeks after their son Zachary was release, their daughter Zoey was admitted to the hospital, she had suffered a stroke. A stroke happens in 0.60 out of 100,000 children her age. Zoey has had a CAT scan, MRI and spinal tap done (which is extremely painful), and tons of blood work. All in hopes to figure out how, why, and what caused this young girl to have a stroke.
She was transferred to an inpatient rehab facility where she had full days of speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. Zoey is now home and continuing this regimen of treatment in hopes that she will gain use in her right side once again.
Even though these two young children have gone through a lot of pain, and unease of not knowing what is going on. They have managed to bring everyone around them such joy, showing how great our Lord and Savior is. This family has shown Gods grace, mercy, love and kindness.
Their story shows that keeping faith in God, trusting in His works, and believing that He will deliver you from anything. His plans are far greater than what we could ever imagine.
With all the running around, hospital stays, and missed days of work, the Downings could use your support to help pay the massive hospital bills that are sure to follow. Your kindness and generosity will take one more worry off of their backs, and allow them to spend that time basking in Gods glory.
