Doug needs help

Donation protected
As you may or may not know our friend Doug Mensing was moored in Marsh Harbour Bahamas when Hurricane Dorian slammed into this small town with winds reaching  sustained wind of 185mph.  We talked to Doug around 6am and then he posted videos later than morning showing him getting prepared.  What he didn’t realize  was that the storm would quickly become a Cat 5 hurricane.  Around 11:30 that morning,  during the storm, the mooring ball failed and sent The Puffin adrift.  He attempted to start the engines and quickly learned water was in the engine compartment and now the engines would not start.   He donned a life jacket and grab his new pup Coco and made the decision to attempt swimming to shore before being caught in a boat taking on water.  He made it to shore and with some help from an unknown individual made it to safety.  Coco was not as fortunate.  The last communication with Doug was that The Puffin was swept ashore and  possibly lost.  He has lived on this boat for 30 plus years and his whole life and belongings are now destroyed, and all he has is the clothes he swam ashore with.  I have been receiving many calls and texts asking how they can help so I decided to start this Go Fund Me page so we all have someplace to contribute if you so desire.  We are currently trying to coordinate getting him back to the states.
I will post this to his Facebook page but please share if you know other friends that may want to help.

Anthony Kelowher (long time friend of Doug’s) and Kristen are welcoming Doug into their home while he receives medical care for his injuries sustained from Hurricane Dorian.  Doug has decided that Anthony will be the beneficiary of the GO FUND ME donations until he can sort out his financial accounts that are currently on hold due to missing and/or stolen credit and debit cards.  Since he is staying with Anthony, Doug will be able to receive the donated money quicker, to help with his medical expenses and purchasing personal items such as a cell phone, clothes and glasses.

Hopefully Doug will be able to reach out to you and update you on the story and thank you for all of your well wishes, concerns, and donations,
