Dora's fight is over, but family still needs help

Donation protected
I am deeply saddened to report that Dora passed away Thursday evening, but not after fighting well beyond the doctor's expectations. God has himself one strong-minded Angel now!

All of her large and loving family did make it to Anchorage, and now we are trying to help bring them and Dora back to Nome for a funeral service, and then to Diomede to be buried on her beloved island with her ancestors.

People's donation have helped relieve a tremendous amount of stress, and the family is deeply moved and overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. It's tough to have ask for more, but if you or someone you know can possibly help, any amount will help!

In memoriam: Dora was a fiercely loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She spent most of her adult life feeding all the children on Diomede as the school cook, while raising her own large family, packing snow for water, sewing skin clothing, keeping her home spotless, and preparing and preserving all of Diomede's traditional Native foods. When she retired and moved to Nome she still couldn't sit still, and began volunteering at the Bering Sea Woman's Shelter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her amazing spirit.
