Donations for Ecuador

Recently my host brother, Dannes, from Ecuador, was involved in a motor bike accident. When bringing home neighbors, a car ran a stop sign hitting them and fled the scene. All passengers, including Dannes, were significantly injured.

When transit police arrived to the scene, they deemed Dannes responsible for the accident and injuries and he was taken to jail. He is currently being held in a holding cell until he can be proved not guilty. Additionally, he is required to cover all medical attention needed not only for himself but for both passengers.

Dannes is one of the main providers of income for his family. Without him working, the family cannot cover all of the expenses. This GoFundMe initiative is to help pay the fees for lawyers in a corrupt system, the extensive list of incurred medical bills, and to get the family back onto their feet.

My goal is to raise $2,000 before December 15th. If I receive $100 from 20 people, or $50 from 40 people, I will hit my goal quickly. With over 1,000 Facebook contacts and your help, I hope to make this happen!

Similarly, your donations of $5, $10, or $20 can make a huge impact for more than just Dannes. Not only will it mean so much to me, but it will also help alleviate stress and pressure from his wife, daughter, sister, mother, and father who are fighting to make ends meet.

For those of you who don't know the background story: I traveled to Ecuador first when I was 16 years old for a mission trip called "Adopta Una Familia" or "Adopt A Family" (AUF, inc). We headed to Guayaquil, Ecuador for 10 days to live with a family and helped build their community, literally. We built homes and helped construct the community center of Guasmo Sur. Little did I know, this would become an annual tradition for the next 14 years and change my life, forever.

I was blessed to be paired with a family who graciously welcomed me and treated me as if I was their own from the first day we met. Although they come from an impoverished neighborhood filled with crime, gangs, and drugs, they have always opened their doors and fed me with what little they had. Never have they asked for my money, even now, in time of desperation. Instead, my host father prays and says, "I ask God for the best gift; the freedom of my son, my friend, my companion."

This family is an important part of my life and has taught me resilience, compassion, and humility. It's my turn to give back to them and take action.  I hope you'll consider making a donation and help reunite a family that is so deserving. On behalf of myself and my family, thank you in advance for your time and support.
