Dominica Hurricane Relief

At 12:00am on Tuesday September 19, 2017 I got the most frightening call in my life.  My sister told me that the roof of the house that we grew up in, the roof that I thought was sheltering my father and sister, was blown of by Hurricane Maria.  In the few hours when I fell asleep the storm intensified from a category 2 to a category 5, the most devastating level a hurricane could reach.  And this category 5 Hurricane is battering my island home of Dominica at this very moment.

As of right now my family is alive, facing down rain and wind and waiting out a storm with nothing to cover their heads.  I am waiting and praying. And I am starting this campaign because despite whatever may happen over the next few hours, I can't just sit and do nothing.  I have to help.  And I'm hoping you can help as well.

Rebuilding after a storm is difficult work, but every bit helps.  I want my family to have shelter, and I want as many people in Dominica to have shelter as well.  A roof over their heads is my aim.  I appreciate whatever you can do to help me reach that aim.  Even if your contribution is well wishes and prayers, I would be truly grateful.

I hope to use whatever I can raise to help my family rebuild and to make a conribution to shelters so that other Dominicans may have shelter as well.  The work begins as soon as this storm, and this dreadful Hurricane season is over.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  And thank you for doing whatever you can to help.
