Dollars for Dinners is a project I created based on the success of Crockpot Freezer meals that I made for a few families last year who needed some help.
Once again, I am asking for donations to help make as many meals as possible for the West Muskoka Food Bank. With no soup kitchen to provide hot meals in our immediate area, Dollars for Dinners is helping to provide homemade meals made with real food so families can have a hot, fresh dinner once or twice a week. That is something many of us take for granted.
I am asking for any donation you can afford. The average cost for a meal is $15.00 - $20.00 each. This provides a family of four with a meal they can put in their crockpot in the morning and come home to a home-cooked meal, a meal made from real ingredients, chicken, beef, pork, potatoes, vegetables and nothing you can't pronounce. To date, we have also received over 20 donated crockpots and made over 450 meals for a family of 4.
Money donated will be used to buy the groceries needed to make Crockpot freezer meals for the West Muskoka Food Bank. I have the time, I have the volunteers, I have the freezer bags, the labels and the willingness to make these meals....but I don't have the endless bank account to support my cause.
Supporting my community is something I feel very strongly about. These families who need our help are people you and I know. Perhaps their children go to school with your children. Perhaps you see them on a regular basis and have no idea they are struggling. And maybe they would be thrilled to come home to a house that smelled like a meal we may take for granted.
Anything you can give will go towards helping a local family put a hot meal on the table.
