Dokuaa Dialysis/kidney Transplant

Evelyn, known to her family as Dokuaa has always been a joyful daughter, sister and cousin to her family. Until two years ago, she was diagnosed with Level 5 Kidney failure. Dokuaa was self-employed, as she owned a shop where she distributed fast-moving consumer goods.
The onset of this ailment gradually led her to lose her capital for her business and has eventually caused her to close down the shop, loosing her source of income and livelihood. She thus became reliant on her family and friends to help her pay for her huge medical bills.
To control her illness, she is now on dialysis, which she attends twice a week. Treatment on the dialysis machine cost of $100 each week she attends. In a country where the Health Insurance does not cover renal diseases, she is forced to pay up front before treatment.
Sometimes, due to the pressure at the renal department of the Korle-Bu hospital, she is unable to get treatment due to breakdown of the machines or high patient attendance. This has caused her to go into crisis on a couple of occasions.
Doctors have advised that she gets a Kidney Transplant as soon as she is able to raise the money for such a treatment otherwise her health would get even worse than it is now. But it has been hard to search for an ultimate match, and a facility to do the procedure. In the Country where she lives - Ghana, West Africa, it is hard for her to get the proper care, whereas all medical facilities in Ghana operate a cash and carry-system. Again no hospital in Ghana carries out a kidney transplant. It has therefore become even more difficult for Dokuaa to get the help she needs.
Dokuaa’s ailment has drained her of her health, beauty, innocence and fun loving personality and she is deteriorating by the day. Please help by donating to Dokuaa towards her cost of dialysis, a transplant, and the cost of taking her abroad for proper treatment. Any help however small will be very much appreciated.
