Stop Domestic Violence with DRN

Domestic violence in Australia is a long standing, complex social issue, it is common and widespread and it doesn’t just hurt people, even the family pet can be threatened. It can lead to homelessness of family members, including pets.
At present there is little known about the impact of domestic violence on companion animals in Australia. What we do know within Dog Rescue Newcastle is that our President, receives at least 2 calls every week from someone in a domestic violence situation asking if DRN can help their pets, by sheltering them and or rehoming them.
It is heartbreaking for her to receive these calls as she is not always able to assist these victims in keeping their pets safe, due to Dog Rescue Newcastle not having shelter facilities.
Dog Rescue Newcastle is a group of volunteers dedicated to the rescue of abandoned, neglected or abused companion animals. These animals are cared for by foster carers in their homes, and we do not always have enough carers to help all dogs in need.
It is this inability to be able to assist these animals that has prompted us to attempt to raise money to be able to able to build a large insulated shed with concrete floors and roller doors, 4 runs and exercise areas.

DRN has a dog with few remaining chalky teeth and her lower jaw now wired. At 16years of age this sweet, incredibly loving, brave girl is now facing twice daily injections for diabetes, a heart condition requiring medication, an abdominal hernia and mammary tumors, all of which Dog Rescue Newcastle is paying for to make her remaining time on earth happy and as pain free as possible. Please help us pay for the care required for these prescious victims of abuse.
