Do You Want to Rebuild Sno Man?

Sno Man is a rescue, who was found trapped in the snow. We picked him up from his rescuers home and brought him to our vet.
He was vaccinated and though he was skinny all seemed well. He went the following week to get neutered, where again all seemed well and he had his surgery.
Upon return his breathing seemed very labored. This was at first thought to be stress, then something unusual showed up in lungs on xray: maybe pneumonia or dry FIP, but his lungs still sounded clear. At his follow up, his breathing was less labored, but still not normal.
The follow up Xrays were clear. His abdominal contents: intestines, stomach and maybe some other parts, were protruding into his chest cavity compressing his lungs and limiting his ability to breathe. This is called a diaphragmatic hernia. The diaphram is what separates the abdominal cavity from the chest cavity and the hernia is either congenital or caused by a blow to the chest and is more common in cats who are allowed outside or are strays.
We met with the surgeon today and the only option to save Sno is a very complicated and expensive surgery. The low estimate is 4000 and that would mean the open his stomach the contents fall easily back into place and he is sewed up. He stays in the hospital for two days and goes home then goes home to live a normal life.
The high estimate is 7000 dollars. That would be a scenario where they open his abdomen and find that there is not enough diaphram to sew shut and they need to put a mesh in or they open his abdomen and find there is scar tissue sticking his abdominal contents to his heart or lungs and they have to open his chest to remove the scar tissue and he stays hospitalized for 5 days following the surgery.
The other option is do nothing and he lives for as long as his lungs can work under those circumstances.
Sno Man does not want to die, he is such a playful young cat. He has no idea why he has to stay in a room by himself to keep stress and exertion to a minimum.
He is so sweet and so young 10-11 months. I have to try!! We have to try!! If 2500 people donated $2 he could have his surgery. Let's rebuild our Sno Man!
