Do Something For David Project

$1,200 of $1,000 goal

Raised by 27 people in 1 month

Hello again! My name is Linda S. and I'm a member of the LiveJournal Man From U.N.C.L.E. community. We recently organized a mass mailing of fan mail and birthday cards to David McCallum, sort of a modern-day surprise show of fan support like he and Robert Vaughn had in the 60's. (40,000 letters a month for three and a half years.)  The photo above is from David's Facebook page Oct. 12, 2018.  David's smile says it all!

Our idea for the flow of cards and letters was to show him our appreciation of how the characters he created still affect the lives of so many of us. He has spurred our own creativity and self-expression, given us hours of entertainment to temporarily lighten whatever burdens we were carrying, and inspired us to try to serve the greater good.

As a group, we've decided to do something for David before he's gone, rather than a memorial like fans did for Leo G. Carroll and Robert Vaughn. Besides the mailings which were global, this Go Fund Me account was set up for donations to the charity  David supports, The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation to be given in his name.

We’ve reached our $1000 goal but still need your donation. Because The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is a certified charity, all donations are sent directly to the charity by PayPal. I want to make this clear that I am not able to access them even though I set up the fund. You can double check this information with GoFundMe if you have doubts about this being a legitimate fundraising campaign.

Funds collected are presented to this charity by the 25th of each month. Your contribution is truly needed. Thank you for supporting this fine charity!

Happy 85th Birthday, David!

There is still time to send in a donation to David's favorite charity AND send him a birthday card. All cards and letters (NO gifts or packages, please) will be presented to David when he next appears on the NCIS set. Take a moment to send him a card, won't you?

With the latest donation, we've reached the halfway point to our goal! Thanks to everyone who has donated.

If you haven't donated yet, what's stopping you? The funds will help the education of the children of Marines. It's a way to say thank you to those who are serving or have served our country.
