DO Magic for David Oliver

Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and fans of David Oliver,

It’s been a little over 5 years since David’s life-saving double lung transplant. To say the least, it’s been quite a journey for him.

David’s a survivor

To have survived the double lung transplant, including all of the medical events leading up to it, was beyond remarkable. In the past 5 years, there have been some incredible triumphs, mixed with many difficult challenges. David had to learn a completely new “normal” way of life.  He had to "start over," professionally, financially, and physically.  It's been an uphill battle.  What many of you may not realize is that, despite the miracle of having new lungs, the transplant brought with it a host of other medical repercussions, complications, and problems.

What he’s facing NOW

It isn’t easy for me to write this, but unfortunately David is in the fight of his life, again. The anti-rejection drugs he has to take to keep his transplanted lungs functioning, have taken a severe toll on his immune system. David now has squamous cell carcinoma, the second-most common—and second-most deadly—form of skin cancer. This cancer is invasive and aggressive.  In recent weeks, the cancer has spread across David's face at an alarming rate, destroying skin, nerves and muscle, down to the bone.  He has already lost functionality of one eyebrow, and partially, one eyelid.

David needs IMMEDIATE surgery to stop this cancer.

The cancer has affected more than 1/3 of his face.
His surgery is scheduled for this coming Friday, September 7th, 2018.
This will be a 10 - 12 hour operation to remove the cancer from his forehead, face and cheekbone.
Major facial reconstruction, and plastic surgery will be necessary with skin grafts  from his forearm and thigh.
He will also need months of chemo and radiation, following the surgery.

What YOU can DO

This is a terrible turn of events for David and he will need all of our love, prayers, and shared strength to get through this new challenge. This GoFundMe campaign is to bridge the financial gap for him, as he recovers from this massive surgery and goes through  chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Funds raised will be used for his daily living expenses and out of pocket medical bills.

Every dollar makes a difference

Please donate what you can, and pass this page onto others.  Any financial help will be greatly appreciated so he can focus all of his energy on his recuperation and recovery.

For more than 30 years, David's magic has inspired and amazed.  His performances thrill audiences, and his mentorship of young magicians in the S.Y.M. is second to none, inspiring a generation of talented, new performers. But he’s not done yet. David has a lot more Magic to DO! But, he needs our help.  Let’s DO Magic for David!

With a heart full of thanks,
