DramaNatrix Productions is proud to present it's 2nd production and Canadian Premiere: BAD GIRLS: The musical at The Renegade Shop in October.
We are a not for profit society focused on creating more opportunities for women in the theatre industry.
LAST YEAR WE DID IT!
Last October, DNP delighted us with their 1st musical "The IT Girl" and it was a smash hit! With a successful box office and the generous help from our sponsors, we were able to raise enough funds to pay the cast and crew an honourarium.
This January, we were honoured with 5 nominations and 2 Ovation Awards.
WHAT IS BAD GIRLS?
Set in the fictional HMP Larkhall Women's Prison, BAD GIRLS is the story of new wing Governor, Helen Stewart along with 12 inmates and their battle with the entrenched old guard system.
It also follows the love story that develops between Helen and inmate Nikki Wade but when a tragedy leads to an angry protest from the women, it forces Helen and Nikki to their opposite sides of the bars.
This Canadian Premiere is based on the hit TV series from the UK. Bad Girls is written by Maureen Chadwick and Ann Mcmanus with music and lyrics by Kath Gotts. Originally directed by Maggie Norris and orchestrations by Martin Koch.
This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited.
WHY WILL BAD GIRLS BE GOOD?
With all the hype around TV Series such as "Wentworth" and "Orange is the new Black", we are certain that Vancouver audiences will want to get a glimpse of these original BAD GIRLS, based on a UK television series which aired from 1999-2006.
WANT ANOTHER REASON?
This year, we are introducing a ticket incentive. What does this mean?
$5 of each ticket sold will go to the cast or crew of your choice. As a new society, we are doing our best to become an organization that will not only educate but pay individuals for their hard work and commitment to DramaNatrix.
WHAT DO WE NEED?
Our producers have have already invested $10k of personal funds not to mention will be volunteering hundreds of hours of our own time.
