Help Anielka beat Eye Cancer

Anielka was born on the 8th of February 2013 in the hospital in Warsaw. We had been waiting for her for a long time. Before she was born, the doctors had suspected a little hole in her heart, but specialized tests showed that Anielka’s heart was all right and the girl was going to be born absolutely healthy.
"No one had expected that such a tragedy could happen…” -says the golden-haired 3-year-old girl’s mum, Wioletta.
After 12-hour difficult birthing, the brave mother saw her angel. The girl was mignon, but for her mum she was the greatest happiness in the world. Anielka weighed 2730g, she was 52 cm long and got 10 according to the Apgar scale. Unfortunately, the happiness didn’t last long, because the first neonatologist’s test showed that there is a tumour on the baby’s eye.
“We were referred to the Children’s Memorial Health Institute. At the beginning a doctor said that it was only an excrescence which was possible to be surgically removed. There was only a question if Anielka could see or not. After the magnetic resonance and USG tests it turned out that the doctors didn’t know what it was and perhaps transplantation would be necessary. When we left the hospital, our trek began. We visited a lot of eye hospitals in Poland. All the specialists said that they didn’t know what it was or they didn’t have necessary equipment or there was nothing to do with it. At last we met Dr Dobrowolski from Sosnowiec and he told us that he would try to diagnose Anielka because he had never seen anything like that before.’ say the parents.
After many tests it turned out that it is a teratoma – a tumour which is growing along with Anielka’s eye and according to the specialists’ opinion, without any treatment it may become malignant. Nobody was able to explain to the terrified parents why the tumour had appeared and how to cure it. In the doctors’ opinions, there can be a few reasons: the eye didn’t form and didn’t close itself completely which could have been caused by even a small infection or a cold during the pregnancy.
The first surgery when Dr Dobrowolski was trying to remove the tumour took place on the 1st of September 2013 in the hospital in Sosnowiec.
When the doctor opened the eye, he closed it immediately since there was no possibility of the tumour removal – a hole in the eye would be created and he was afraid that Anielka would lose her eye. Dr Dobrowolski gave up trying.
He told us that he was not going to give hope to us because the eye cavity is so vast that there is no place to sew the sclera.’ says the disappointed mum.
The parents decided to send medical documents to Dr Abramson in New York and they got the cost estimation.
Everything they dream about is their daughter’s proper diagnosis and the tumour’s removal. They want to give their beloved child healthy and happy childhood and save her from malicious people’s comments. The tumour is so big that the muscles of the eyelid don’t manage to close the eye completely.
We love her very much and we would like her to be healthy, her dream is to become a pilot. We are striving to make her life easier but we won’t save her from human stupidity and nastiness. We explain to her that thanks to the fact that she looks different from other children, she is more exceptional but even for such a little kid it is hard to understand why people look at her and children ask why she looks so.
Anielka’s parents ask you to help them, they aren’t able to collect such a large amount of money on their own. Don’t be indifferent.

Po 12 godzina ciężkiego porodu, dzielna mama zobaczyła swojego aniołka. Drobniutkiego, ale dla niej, największego szczęścia na świecie! Anielka ważyła 2730g, mierzyła 52 cm długości i otrzymała 10 punktów Apgar. Niestety radość nie trwała długo, pierwsze badanie przez neonatologa wykazało, że na oczku jest guz.
„Dostaliśmy skierowanie do Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka, Pani doktor na początku mówiła, że to zwykła narośl, którą da radę usunąć operacyjnie pod znakiem zapytania stało tylko to czy Anielka widzi czy nie. Po wykonaniu rezonansu i usg oka okazało się, że lekarze nie wiedzą co to jest i prawdopodobnie będzie potrzebny przeszczep. Po wyjściu ze szpitala zaczęła się nasza wędrówka po okulistach dziecięcych w Polsce. Do każdego do kogo dotarliśmy mówili, że albo nie wiedzą co to jest albo nie mają sprzętu albo po prostu, że z tym nie da rady nic zrobić. W końcu trafiliśmy do dr. Dobrowolskiego do Sosnowca i pan doktor powiedział, że spróbuje Anielkę zdiagnozować bo nigdy wcześniej nie widział czegoś takiego.” – opowiadają rodzice.
Po wielu badaniach okazało się, że jest to skórzakotłuszczak (potworniak) – zmiana nowotworowa, która rośnie wraz z oczkiem Anielki, a według opinii specjalistów zostawiona sama sobie, może się uzłosliwić. Nikt nie potrafił wyjaśnić przerażonym rodzicom, skąd wziął się guz i jak go wyleczyć. Według lekarzy przyczyn może być kilka: oczko nie wykształciło i nie zamknęło się w pełni czego powodem mogła być nawet drobna infekcja lub przebyte podczas ciąży przeziębienie.
Pierwsza operacyjna próba usunięcia guza, której podjął się dr Dariusz Dobrowolski, odbyła się 01.09.2013 szpitalu w Sosnowcu.
„Pan doktor po otwarciu oka, od razu je zaszył, bo nie było możliwości wycięcia guza – zrobiłaby się po prostu dziura w oku i Pan doktor bał się, że Anielka straci oko! Doktor Dobrowolski się poddał. Powiedział, nam, że nie będzie już nam dawał nadziei , że uda się z tym coś zrobić, bo ubytek w oku jest tak duży, że nie ma do czego przyszyć twardówki!” – mówi rozgoryczona mama.
Rodzice podjęli decyzję o przesłaniu dokumentów do Dr. Abramsona do Nowego Jorku i doczekali się kosztorysu. Wszystko o czym marzą to prawidłowe zdiagnozowanie ich córki oraz usunięcie guza z oczka. Bardzo pragną zapewnić swojemu ukochanemu dziecku zdrowe i szczęśliwe dzieciństwo oraz uchronić je przed złośliwymi komentarzami ludzi. Guz jest już na tyle duży, że mięśnie powieki nie radzą sobie z pełnym zamknięciem.
„Kochamy ją z całego serduszką i chcielibyśmy żeby była zdrowa, jej marzeniem jest zostać pilotem. Bardzo się staramy, żeby było jej łatwiej w życiu, ale nie ochronimy jej przed głupotą i złośliwością ludzką. Tłumaczymy jej, że dzięki temu, że wygląda inaczej niż pozostałe dzieci, jest bardziej wyjątkowa, ale dziecku, nawet tak małemu, ciężko zrozumieć dlaczego ludzie na nią patrzą, a dzieci pytają czemu ona tak wygląda.
Koszt terapii to około 365.000 zlotych
Rodzice Anielki proszą was o wsparcie, sami nie są w stanie uzbierać tej ogromnej kwoty. Nie pozostawajmy obojętni.
