My Moms Cancer Treatment

Recently my mom, Janice O'Brien, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In February she had a random left side abdominal pain that started bothering her, we went into the ER and they saw a gray mass near her ovary. After seeing a few doctors they identified a tumor in her ovary and scheduled surgery for a full hysterectomy. Surgery was March 17th, she was extremely strong and is recovering very well. After surgery they told us that she had a 9 cm mass in her left ovary which ended up being Stage 1 ovarian cancer with high grade malignant cells. We are SO very thankful that this was caught at an early stage, and it was a miracle she got the side pain she did since normally there are no symptoms to ovarian cancer. 

Even though they removed the ovarian tumor, she still has to undergo chemotherapy to lower any chance of re-occurrence. This has been an extremely difficult time, and we are trying to help my mom out by collecting donations to help pay for some of the treatment and medical expenses. We are also trying to fundraise to help get her a wig so we can try to prepare for the chemotherapy. Her first chemotherapy session is planned for May 1st and she will have 4-6 cycles that will last throughout August of this year.
