Ditching Alcohol for Bristol Mind

Tax deductible
Hi Guys,

Although progress has been made, Mental Health is still a heavily stigmatized subject that often gets swept under the rug. As a society, we can do better to ensure people who suffer have access to help early on to prevent possible complications happening down the road.

Bristol has a higher prevalence of mental ill health than the national average – both for children and young people and for adults, though figures given by the council are unlikely to fully reflect need. Too many precious lives have been lost due to mental health and so many people are suffering every day.

Mental Health is systemic and friends and family of the sufferer often are affected themselves bearing witness to the damaging effects and problems someone they care for faces.

Alcohol is such a contributor to mental health issues and the two can sometimes go hand in hand. It's important to take care of ourselves and be the best versions of ourselves we possibly can.

As such, I've decided to give up alcohol until the 22nd December and take part in Movember where I will not shave for the whole of November. Although this may not seem like a difficult task for some, this will definitely be a great challenge for me. It's also about raising the money for a good cause!

Any money donated will go the charity Bristol Mind who are working towards better mental health services and support in the UK.

Wish me luck

Jack
