In the United States alone, 6.5 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those shelter animals, approximately 1.5 million are euthanized. Shelters are overpopulated and there aren't enough adoptive homes coming forward. Even pet stores and breeders can have difficulties finding a good home for their animals.
It can be very daunting to learn which pet to adopt, and how to provide animals with the proper care and love they all need. This is where Discover Pets comes in!
Our goal is to team up with animal shelters, rescues and other animal related companies to help find animals their perfect home. The goal of the app is to lower the rate of pets being rehomed, abandoned or taken to a shelter. We want to help prospective pet owners find, connect with and fall in love with the pet that BEST fits their lifestyle, needs and personality! We hope to build a community in which pet owners, pet sellers, breeders, animal shelters, pet stores, and animal hospitals can work together to create the most ideal living situations for animals, while also making it convenient for pet owners to find their ideal pet and provide it with the care it needs.
We offer more than just a simple pet finding app, as we are expanding it to include ALL types of animals, nationwide! Whether you are looking for a dog, cat, bird, or reptile, this app will have features such as the ability to filter search results near you, build your own profile to share with others that are using the app, an algorithm to match you to breeds which fit your lifestyle best and other exciting components to help find the pet for you.
First time pet time owners quickly find out how grueling it can be to own a pet. Even second, third and seven-time pet owners for that matter! The cost of food, veterinary visits, and toys, as well as the immense amount of energy spent caring for an animal can take a toll on an owner. Sadly, people are not always able to afford their newest addition to their family, or they might choose an animal that isn’t suited to their lifestyle and personality because they lack knowledge about the animal they’ve chosen. Many people who adopt pets are simply not prepared and don’t have the information to be successful, resulting in disappointment for animals who put their faith in the person taking care of them.
For me, finding my new pup Bruno took months, money, and SO many trips from shelter to shelter. It was exhausting! Luckily, my best friend Kelly helped me through the process and now wants to help others begin their journey!
Kelly has a true passion for helping people and absolutely loves animals. She has three pups of her own that she adores, so it makes sense that she would come up with this idea to help pets find their forever homes. We hope everyone that is actively pet searching can find a lifelong friend with little to no stress!
If everyone could give just $5, that would be more than helpful, but we do appreciate any amount to begin development of the app. We look forward to helping you or a friend in the near future and finding more pets their new best friend!
