Hello, my name is Navild and I am a Black Trans activist & artist. In October 2018 I severed a tendon in my knee. It's taken me almost a year to be able to walk & move without the assist of a wheelchair or without depending on other peoples help. Not being able to walk, as a dancer/artistic director, I was not able to work at the capacity that I am used to and that has resulted in some significant debts that have been accruing in this time. I work most hours of the day to make ends meet by many means. I have worked very hard since childhood to create an income to support myself and disabled family members while navigating poverty. I am the co-creator of Black Power Naps and have always struggled to center restorative sleep and rest. As much as I create a name for myself I still deal with many life threatening structural barriers and establishing wealth, let alone not going into debt, is one of them. I have managed to stay afloat for a while now through many hustles and am so proud to say that I have secured steady housing for the first time in 3 years of homelessness and housing insecurity. I really want to keep this housing and ensure that I can turn it into secure housing for myself.
Today I am not able to do that on my own, I urgently need to ask for your help.
Here’s what I need:
Money to cover sudden and endangering debts, ensure my housing security, help me recover costs/debt due to my recent injury, ensure that I can have steady healthy meals, keep my mental health on track and rehabilitate back to health.
Specifically, your donations will ensure my survival this way:
€1500 to cover insurance and household fees by next week. I risk having my home invaded and belongings taken away if I am not able to gather this money.
€2205 to cover incorrectly calculated income tax that I have to pay anyway, though I have been taxed an amount far higher than my income allows - without notice - for months. My bank account has now been frozen due to this and I need to settle this ASAP to avoid further debt, as this freeze prevents me from paying additional bills that will be coming in now that we’ve entered a new month.
€3300 to ensure my housing security while I figure out a way to make a steady income, access to nourishing meals, and the ability to keep making liberatory work that serves my community.
