Gofundme asked me to state for what we will use the donated money for:
- We spend 130 € for a banner that some friends in Coruna used for the first protest.
- We spend 220 € on a nice flower ring for the funeral service which was today.
- I spend 1200 € so far for bringing his personal belongings back to his family in Coruna. There might be additional charge from spanish tax department.
- We will organize a water ceremony in the next couple of weeks, where we will gather at the surfclub where Diego learned to surf with his old surf budies. We probably will rent a boat for the family to participate in the water.
- We in contact with privat investigators, just waiting for the family to let the funeral settle in and once we get their green light (which has been promised by Diego´s brother Bruno) which we will fight for till the last penny drops.
I hope this is enough evidence for Gofundme to free up the money, because so far I paid everything out of my own pocket.
All expenses so far have an tax invoice, and for all further expenses will happen the same.

A few days ago, we woke up to a different kind of devastation. Our friend Diego was taken from us on the island of Siargao, shot dead multiple times by Police in his home late at night. He was not given the chance to speak, he was murdered.
Since 2016 the Filipino government has waged a “war on drugs” from which time 30,000 lives have been taken. Just like in Diego’s case, there is often no proof of criminal activity, only a bogus explanation or pathetic statement from the DEA after the fact.
The killings are sanctioned by the government and extrajudicial - no judge, no jury, just executioners. People deciding whose life is worth nothing. This happens in a place that was voted travel destination of the year for 2020, a place that has been condemned and sanctioned by Human Rights organisations and the international court for years, to no avail.
This tragic event is extremely scary because it can happen to anyone.
For all of this, we are raising funds to help the family of Diego, show our love from all over the world at the funeral service and seek for justice.

Hace unos días, nos levantamos con una trágica noticia. Nuestro amigo Diego había sido asesinado en la isla de Siargao, disparado múltiples veces por la policia filipina la noche anterior cerca de su casa. No se le dio la oportunidad de hablar, fue cruelmente asesinado a sangre fría.
Desde el 2016, el gobierno filipino ha llevado a cabo una “Guerra contra la droga” que desde entonces ha costado 30,000 vidas. Como en el caso de Diego, no hay evidencia criminal del delito, simplemente una explicación falsa o una declaración patética del DEA (agencia antidroga) después de los hechos.
Las muertes son aprobadas por el gobierno extrajudicialmente - sin jueces, sin juicios, simplemente ejecuciones. Deciden que las vidas de la gente simplemente no valen nada. Todo esto ocurre en un lugar que ha sido votado como uno de los destinos turísticos para el 2020. Un país que ha sido acusado y condenado por estos abusos por organizaciones de derechos humanos y tribunales internacionales durante años pero que parece servir de muy poco.
Esta tragedia es realmente alarmante, porque es algo que le puede pasar a cualquiera.
Por todo esto, hemos lanzado esta campaña para ayudar a la familia de Diego, mostrar nuestra solidaridad desde cualquier parte del mundo y buscar justicia.
