Help Dianna Beat Cancer!

Donation protected
We are seeking to raise money to help our mother, Dianna Lynne Connors, through a cancer crisis. She has always been a giver, both to us and to everyone around her. After a very successful career of caring for others and teaching professionals how to care for others, Dianna now needs to be on the receiving end of care. She has contracted two different kinds of cancer in her breast, with one or possibly both kinds spreading to other parts of her body including her lymph nodes and her liver.

We are hoping to raise $15,000 to defray the medical costs we know of thus far, which will help cover her diagnostic procedures. Dianna's doctors say her cancer is very treatable, but we have to pursue treatment right away, and bills for her immediate procedures are piling up. Please read on to learn more and how your donation will help.

Seven years ago, Dianna was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent surgery and radiation and came out of that fight victorious. At the time, Dianna was running a branch of Loma Linda University’s Marital and Family Therapy Programme. Widely-lauded as one of the best in the country, many graduates went on to become Registered Psychologists, administer human service and counselling agencies, teach undergraduates, establish themselves as international speakers and publish in specialised fields such as autism, chemical abuse, family therapy and hospice care.

Dianna helped over 230 students graduate during her 20 years leading the programme. After the programme was relocated, Dianna worked as a counsellor for underprivileged clients at a non-profit community organization. And post-cancer, Dianna was determined to live her life more fully than ever before. A brush with death often has this effect.

2016 felt like the culmination of a renewed lease on life. It was the start of a new and exciting chapter for Dianna: she had reconnected with an old boyfriend from college, Tom. They fell in love and Dianna moved from Alberta, Canada to Ohio, USA to marry the man who pursued her. “Love can change your life,” she said in an email to friends and family soon after moving there.

As Dianna was thriving in her new marriage, she was making plans to start up a life coaching practice and put her decades of marital and family therapy experience to good use in a new place. But there were roadblocks. Despite months of trying, her American visa was not moving quickly through the system, preventing her from starting her practice.

Still, things were the best they had been for Dianna in a long, long time when one morning she woke up to find a lump in her breast. In the weeks that passed, Dianna discovered that she had cancer in both breasts, several lymph nodes and also in her liver. Dianna looked her doctor straight in the eye one morning as he discussed her diagnosis and asked point-blank: “Am I going to die?”

What the doctor said next has given us a huge cause for optimism: “No,” he said. “This is treatable and beatable.” So treat it and beat it we will. But we need your help to do it.

Because Dianna is still legally unable to work, we are asking for your help to cover the cost of treatment. Dianna needs multiple tests, including PET scans and biopsies, and she especially needs to begin her chemotherapy treatment. We are humbly asking for donations with the hopes of raising $15,000. We will be using funds generated to help pay for medical costs, travel costs, and medication costs. Any funds raised over the requested amount will be used for future medical expenditures.

We are confident she can get the excellent care she needs at the Kettering Cancer Center in Ohio. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for taking the time to read this. If you can, please donate generously, and consider sharing this campaign with those you know. Let’s help Dianna beat cancer once and for all so she can get back to living the life she was meant to live!

With love and gratitude,
