Diabetic Dog for Zeth
Donation protected
Imagine finding your child on the floor unresponsive. This is how we found Zeth, wet in his clothes and making weird groans laying on the floor. We rushed him to the ER and they told us he was very sick and life flight and they will be taking him to children's hospital in Omaha. There was no room in the helicopter for Bill and I. Needless to say we jumped in the car soon as he took off and hurried to Omaha This was the longest ride we have ever been on.
Is Zeth ok? did they have to intubate him? is he conscious? We got a call that they had to stop in Kerney for fuel. Zeth woke up and freaked out, he tried to escape and wanted to go home. He spent a week in the pediatric ICU. He did not know his name and had swelling on the brain. After a week there was a spark and he began to remember more and more. After the initial shock of being diagnosed as a "type 1 diabetic" he said" it is what it is and we can do this" How can he have juvenile diabetes he is 16!?The Doctors came in and told us type 1 is an autoimmune disorder and that he will be prone to others. He has been tested for thyroid and celiac: thyroid came back positive. This is crazy, how did our boy get so sick so fast. He has been so brave through all the pokes, injections and medications...He is my hero, my warrior.
When we returned for a check up we were leaving the clinic and a dog barked at him in the waiting room. The Dr came out and had Zeth check his sugar. Sure enough he was low! I'm so thankful that the dog barked at him, who knows what would happen if he dropped lower on our three hour journey home.
Zeth has a full life ahead of him and this dog will have a large impact on his life, even the ability to save it! Unfortunately the dog is $25,000 and that is why we are here asking for help.
He wrote and produced a song about his experience it is amazing and Im so proud of him for taking this in stride
