Perma-Quest @ The Yoga Forest

If I've ever touched your life with my giving would you please consider donating to my dream cause?

My vision is to transform underserved communities from corporate food dependence to self-reliant abundance by teaching communities the design principles of Permaculture. In order to achieve this vision I need to obtain a Permaculture Design Certification (PDC).

Do We Ever Really Stop Learning?
I hope not! Please help me turn my vision into reality via the experiential learning opportunity of a lifetime at
The Yoga Forest in San Marcos la Laguna, Guatemala November 2-16, 2014.

Where Did I Get This Idea?
About a year ago a seed was planted in my mind; a seed named Permaculture. It's been an informational, loving, and obsessive relationship. Like, really obsessive. Now we're…er…I'm ready to take it to the next level. Consummation.

My grandfather was an avid gardener. He was free with his knowledge and his award-winning tomatoes. This is where the deep romance with nature and altruism started. Bare feet in the dirt and hands muddy, too. The earthy thrill of it all.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the road, the wisdom of my grandfather and his forefathers was obscured. Living off the land converted into detrimental convenience, food insecurity, ignorance, and poverty. However, all was not lost.

Over the last few years I've revisited the old ways with small-scale gardening projects, healthier lifestyle changes/choices, creative, sustainable solutions, attending meet-ups about soils, and visiting eco-friendly communities, etc. This return to a natural lifestyle has radically changed my mindset and I know I've only just scratched the surface of the far-reaching health benefits.

But there's always been this little voice, an inner cheerleader, cheering towards something even bigger, even better - something that will sustain folks - every single one. Permaculture teaches communities how to think about their resources and how to use their resources to plan for a sustainable future. By teaching others how to implement the design principles of Permaculture they will be able to acknowledge that they truly are the ones with the solutions, and that many of these solutions lie no farther than their own backyards.

The Bottom Line:
It's easy for me to downplay the impact I've had when helping others: through facilitating art, fundraising for family member's medical bills and defining life events, rallying for community causes, volunteering my time and/or giving food/furniture/clothing items to loved ones and the underserved. Admittedly, as much as the giver turns outward, they often need to take the time to maintenance themselves and turn inward.

Please help me achieve my goal of obtaining a Permaculture Design Certificate in order that I might be of even greater service to myself, to my family, and to humanity.

Any funds raised over the goal will be paid forward to another charity.
