Brenda's Medical Bills

A story from Brenda's sister:

For those who don't have all of the details Brenda James Akers was on her way to work. She wore her helmet and jacket, geared up to be safe. She was driving north on 377 and it was still dark outside. Her gear and bike are dark as well. Apparently someone turning east (left) onto 1709/Golden Triangle did not see her and hit her on her left side. The lady in the truck that hit her stopped and called 911. Her air bag deployed if that tells you hard hard the impact was. As my sister laid there lifeless someone who did not see the accident occur was trying to get around the stopped cars. She saw my sister and jumped out of her car to run to her side. This angel, whose name isRebecca Lee Gates, stayed with Brenda, praying over her until rescue came. This is not an easy task seeing someone in such bad shape. My sister was the taken by helicopter to JPS which is the best trauma hospital. Within 15 minutes of arrival she was in surgery.

Update from Brenda's Church:

Brenda is awake, stable and responding well. The accident on Wednesday morning was very serious, and the OR surgeon at JPS Trauma Center had to immediately remove the left leg above the knee to secure and stabilize Brenda. As severe as the accident was, Brenda had no head or neck trauma, nor did she have any internal bleeding. She is now recovering and exceeding the doctors expectations. Brenda will have additional surgery on her left leg Friday morning (09/25). She has been strong and brave through the entire incident, and is incredibly encouraged by all the prayers, love and support. Please continue to keep Brenda, Josh and the family in prayer

Brenda's work family has gathered together in hopes to ease the pain of costly medical bills. Brenda is an amazingly strong woman, who is a firm believer in God and a loving woman who would do anything to help somebody in need... so please, lets all do the same for Brenda in her time of need!
