Devon's Healing Fund

This past Friday night, Eric & I received the type of call that no parent wants to get. Our son was in the ER. Devon was standing outside Harper’s, being responsible, and calling for a ride home for him & his friends when someone drove by and threw a lit firework. He never saw it coming and even ending up stepping/standing on it. He was knocked out by the explosion so he doesn’t 100% even know what happened. We just know the damage to his body and the image of the mark left by the firework outside the bar.

The news reported someone going to the hospital with a leg injury (minor injuries) and made it sound as if no big deal. Well, let me tell you, it is a big deal.

Devon is doing okay but the road ahead is still unknown. He has 2 holes in his legs, many burns, and damage to his foot that is requiring him to go to the Burn Unit at UofM and could be possible permanent damage to his foot and ankle.

We are hopeful that the police catch the person who did this to our son, but definitely, think someone on the street that night who saw it should come forward to assist. I am having the hardest time understanding how someone could do this and think it was funny or that it wouldn’t hurt anyone. I am grateful that his injuries were not worse and that no one else was injured but …

While Eric & I are not big supporters of GoFundMe, we are have set this up for Devon to assist him with his regular bills, unknown medical bills to come, travel to specialist, and the plethora of medical supplies/bandages/medicine used in his recovery. We still don’t know how much time he will be off from work at this time. None of this would be necessary if someone just had respect for innocent people and had never done this!!!
