Devon Dog Behaviour Rehab & Rehome

Nine years ago, Ruth Owen set up a dog rescue centre in Devon to take in desperate dogs that other local rescues refused to accept, dogs that vets had nowhere to send, ... dogs that were destined to be destroyed through no fault of their own.
As a dog behaviour practitioner and a dog trainer, Ruth had become aware of the huge need for a rescue centre that did not turn away the ‘difficult-to-home’ dogs.
Devon Dog Behaviour Rehab & Rehome www.rehabrehome.co.uk was set up as a community interest company (CIC) — company number 8625025.
The rescue centre's important work has become increasingly well known throughout Devon. However, what we started as a worthwhile project with just a few dogs is now bursting at the seams!!!
More and more dogs are purchased and discarded by owners with little thought to their welfare, and a lack of UK laws prohibiting breeding creates an endless source of vulnerable dogs.
Many local vets and vet nurses are aware of Ruth's dog rescue centre as one that will accept dogs that are facing destruction. They phone Ruth with news updates on a weekly basis. Ruth also works closely with Devon & Cornwall Police, taking dogs from them who have found themselves in the wrong situation with the wrong owner and need the rescue's skills to find them a second chance.
Unfortunately, due to capacity issues, Ruth's rescue centre is now turning away dogs that will be destroyed without help, because there just isn't the space for any more dogs.
The rescue centre is hoping to urgently relocate to a new location and has found the right property locally in the Totnes area.
Local is crucial, as we have a great support network of loyal volunteers and followers who have, over the years, enabled the rescue centre to save many, many dogs from a tragic end of life.
However, we have a funding shortfall of £40,000 and this is where your help is very much needed. Ruth has funded the rescue in totality, with her own life savings, but we need the extra to build a home environment for the dogs so they do not live in kennels and can learn how to be in a family situation with each other thus facilitating a happier life for the long-stayers and a more successful experience for those moving on. In addition, as our new home will be a farm, we will be able to move our existing sheep family with us, establish a bee colony, an orchard and create a small sanctuary for rescued poultry from the farming industry.
Please, please help with your donations, or arranging fundraising events that will help our cause.
Whatever you can spare (no amount is too small) will take our dog rescue one step closer to a new home with more space to accept rejected dogs, giving them a future that would otherwise not be theirs.
