Devon and Anissa's Name Change

In the state of California, when a couple gets married, there are only two options when it comes to taking last names:  You may either choose the last name of your spouse or create a hyphenated version of both of your last names.

Neither of us wanted those options when we were married at the San Diego Court House, but we feel it is important to signify our commitment to one another by having the same last name.  

Therefore, we are choosing to take Devon's middle name, Shawn.  To do so, we need to file a Petition for Change of Name with the California courts, which is not a cheap process.
