DeShaun's Track Trip to Oz

Deshaun was invited to compete in the Down Under Sports Track and Field competition at Griffiths University near Brisbane, Australia to be held in July, 2018. (Registration deadline is May 1, 2018 so we hope to raise the funds before then!)
DeShaun is a sophomore this year at Thoreau High School in rural Thoreau, NM. He comes from a Navajo background and has only known this area his entire life. His family does not have the means to get him a passport, let alone a round trip plane ticket from Albuquerque to Brisbane, QLD.
DeShaun threw the discus an impressive 111'2" at the first official meet of this year. Last year as a freshman was the first time DeShaun had ever picked up a discus, a shot, or a javelin. He loves throwing; he practices in the off-season whenever he gets the opportunity. Track and field is a tangible, obtainable, and excellent opportunity for DeShaun to earn a scholarship to college in order to further his education and track and field skills.
A trip to Australia would completely change DeShaun's life. His worldview would open up, and being able to see something beyond his rural, isolated hometown would have a hugely positive impact on this very deserving young man.
