Tragic Loss of a Young Mother

Donation protected

Many of you reading this knew Katie “Kelly”  Descheneau.  For those of you who weren’t blessed with knowing her in this life, it’s my fervent hope that what you read here will lead you to love her, - at least a little-, in the same way I did.

The daughter of Beth and Paul Kelly of Deering, Katie grew up in rural New Hampshire.  As a child, her young mind devoured and embraced the Laura Ingalls Wilder Little House on the Prairie books so completely that it became her lifelong dream to live a life of frugal
simplicity somewhere out there on the wild frontier.  After meeting and falling in love with Jeremy Descheneau, the two of them dedicated
their lives to fulfilling that dream.

Four years ago, they reached that goal.  Together with their two sons Wyatt (then 10 years old), and Ryder (then 5), they built a remote homestead near Homer, Alaska where they would help all in need, and ask nothing for themselves.

But Alaska is a hard place to homestead, and an even harder place to find employment that will support a young family.  Despite that, Jeremy sought and attained employment that would provide for his family, but it often kept him far away from the home he and Katie loved for weeks at a time.

Together they made things work.

Eight days ago on April 18th, while Jeremy was away on business in Houston, Texas, Katie, only 36 years old, began experiencing flu like symptoms while she was caring for the boys who are now 12 and  10 years old.  Little did she know it was something far worse than the
flu.  In true pioneer fashion, Katie shrugged it off, dug deep within herself, and powered through the day.  After going to bed that night she passed from this life suddenly and unexpectedly.

Katie was a shining light to all who knew her in this constant chaos and darkness that we call modern life.  That incandescent spirit of hope,- that light that was Katie-, has been ripped from Jeremy and their
young sons lives.

I need your help in providing a financial cushion to Jeremy while he grows into his new role as a widower father to Wyatt and Ryder in their life without Katie.

I need your help in getting Jeremy, Wyatt, and Ryder back to New Hampshire, and into the arms and emotional support of their friends and family in the Deering / Hillsboro area.

I need your help to bring Katie home.

Any amount will help us reach our goal.  The Deschneaus are the good, hardworking, simple salt of the earth people just like you and I who don’t have much when it comes to money, but together keep making
the world a better place.

Thank you,
