DES Action USA Research Program

Tax deductible
DES-exposure caused infertility, differences in sex and reproductive organ development, and cancer of the vagina and cervix.

How did DES-exposure influence those children's gender identities?
How did infertility or differences in sex and reproductive organ development affect relationships as they grew?
How do people in the LGBTQIA community who were exposed to DES feel?

Please help fund this study. DES (diethylstilbestrol) was the first synthetic estrogen and it was given to about 5 million pregnant women between 1930 and 1971.

The research is called Embodying Transgenerational Exposure: Gender/Sex/Sexuality and the Experiences of Being DES Exposed, and the Principal Investigator is Jacquelyne Luce, PhD.

Dr. Luce is exploring associations that are made between exposure to DES and personal experiences of gender, sex, and sexuality in various social, medical and scientific contexts.

Particular attention will be paid to the narratives of queer, trans, intersex, gender-fluid, and gender non-conforming DES-exposed individuals.

Learn more about the study here.

DES Action USA is the only national organization for all individuals exposed to DES, their families, and health care providers. DES Action USA has been serving the DES-exposed community for 40 years. The mission of DES Action USA is to identify, educate, empower and advocate for DES-exposed individuals.
