Derek Steplight

Never in a million years did I think this is something I would have to do for Derek.  Known affectionately to most as DJ D-Xtreme.   He meant so much to so many people.  Unfortunately, he battled many internal issues, which ultimately got the best of him.  

He had a big heart.  He was a great friend to his friends.  He was giving, supportive and helpful as much as he good be.  His talent was legendary to this community.  He was loved, admired and respected.

With a very heavy heart and tears in my eyes, I ask that you help his family lay him to rest and memorialize him respectfully.

His sister is currently making his funeral arrangements and I will share that with you as soon as she has those finalized.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Even though Derek and I were no longer together, he was still a part of my family.  I can't express the emotions I'm feeling with words at this time.  I just ask that everyone look out for one another and never be afraid to ask what's wrong or offer an ear to listen or a hand to hold through a difficult time.  Kind gestures and words can save a life.
