On April 30th 2019, our community suffered a devastating loss. Deputy Sheriff Edmond Irvin ended his watch with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 9:41 pmDeputy Irvin was shot and killed while off duty.
Deputy Irvin was born on July 29th 1993 in Newnan, Georgia. He began his career at the Sheriff’s Office in the jail where he was known for his outstanding professionalism and hard work ethic. It did not take long for his command staff to notice and he was soon promoted to the uniform patrol division. Upon completion of the Academy in December of 2018, Deputy Irvin quickly adapted to his new position becoming an asset to the department and his community that he so willingly served.
Not only have we lost a brother in blue, Deputy Irvin has left behind a fiancé who is 5 months pregnant with their son, slated to arrive in September. After many conversations and careful consideration amongst coworkers, it has been decided that it is our responsibility to do everything in our power to help our brother realize the dreams that he had for his son in the future. ALL proceeds will be placed into a trust fund in the name of Deputy Irvin’s son and will be used to ensure that his child is provided with the opportunity for a college education that his father would want him to have. We will be collecting donations throughout the month of May and once the trust is established in the upcoming weeks, a transfer will be made directly to that account with Public Safety Foundation.
Please be aware that while this fund has been established solely by the employees of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, this is the only donations page that if fully sanctioned and supported by Sheriff Lenn Wood of Coweta County for the SOLE purpose of establishing a trust for unborn baby Irvin. Any other pages, sites, or solicitation outside of this page are unrelated and have no association to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, or the employees there of.
