 FORT MYERS, FL
On the evening of December 21st Dennis was riding his bike in Lehigh Acres when he was struck by an unknown motorist. Witnesses say they heard the impact and saw Dennis fly off of his bike as a vehicle drove off without stopping. Sparks flew from the bike which was wedged under the vehicle. The driver continued on for miles. Paramedics were called to the scene and responded to what we now know as a tramatic brain injury. Upon further evaluation Dennis has bleeding on the brain, 7 broken vertebraes, and an injured hip. He was rushed to Lee Memorial Hospital and admitted into the I.C.U. Fortunately for all of his friends and family Dennis is expected to recover, but not without extensive medical care and therapy. Like many of us, Dennis does not have medical insurance and his immediate family lives in California. The suspect in this hit and run is still at large and cannot be held morally, financially, or legally accountable for the horrific injuries that Dennis has been left with.  He has a long road ahead of him, which includes many medical bills, occupational and physical therapy fees, and an extended leave of absence from work. He is in need of any and all help that others are willing to contribute. We appreciate all of your prayers and financial help. Dennis didn't deserve what happened to him on the evening of December 21st, but he does deserve the best chance at a full physical and financial recovery.

Saw a walking miracle today! This is a guy that was told he may never walk again. This is a guy that was told his memories may never return. This is a guy that wasn't expected to pull through in the ICU Trauma Unit. However, this guy keeps defying the odds and does it with a smile on his face. Although his memory of the incident hasn't returned and he is still in a fog, we can still see the same old Dennis emerge in little moments. He has come so far and knows he still has so far to go. He told me he is ready to be the same Dennis he was before the accident and he is going to do whatever it takes to get back to his old self. My husband and I truly enjoyed spending the afternoon with him. We can see the fire in his eyes and the gratitude in his heart. Your continued prayers and donations do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Happy New Year to all of you!
Stephen and Dennis enjoying their water and some football. I bet you didn't notice his body brace because his smile is such an attention grabber!

Thank you to everyone who has shown such compassion and support. Dennis had his first round of physical therapy and pushed through like a champ! His memory is improving, but he still doesn't remember details from the accident. Although he has a long road ahead of him, he remains positive. He has said many times that he fully forgives whoever hit him. He harbors no hate. We do hope someone will be found and held accountable, but more importantly Dennis just wants to use himself as an example for others . Life can change in the blink of an eye. Appreciate family, friends, and all of life's blessings. Never give up without a fight, and find the humor in all situations. Kindness is what makes this world go around. Despite this horrific accident, he truly appreciates all of the good that he has seen through all of you!
