Who am I?
I have always been an internationalist and more recently someone who is truly concerned about global warming.
What is it that I am doing?
I am volunteering as a marine conservationist with an organization called 'Global Vision International' (GVI) which is helping the Seychelles Park Authority (SPA) collect data on the impact that coral bleaching is having on their coral reefs. Their end goal is to end coral bleaching.
Coral bleaching occurs when the ocean waters become so warm that that the corals expel the algae living in their tissues causing them to turn white.

When am I volunteering?
My trip is for 6 weeks and begins January 12th 2019.
Where am I going?
Seychelles Islands - Located in the Indian Ocean, 1,600 km's East of Africa just south of the equator.
Why did I choose this volunteering effort?
I was inspired to take this adventure for my concern for global warming and combining my love of the water and marine fauna. Once learning that coral bleaching is considered a bigger threat than deforestation, I decided that this was a cause I wanted to be a part of. *see link below*

How am I going to accomplish my goal?
By earning half the funds myself, through extra shifts at my current position and being frugal with my spending habits with hopes that the other half can be raised through this fundraising effort.
