Denise's Medical Funds

Easter Sunday Denise woke up in a lot of pain, it was persistent and would not go away no matter what she did. Shane and Denise decided it would be best to go to the hospital to have this checked out. Once they arrived and the doctors ran some test it was determined her colon was twisted and she would need immediate surgery to correct this. Surgery went well and she spent about a week in the hospital. Denise has Lupus, which is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Because of this it is difficult for Denise to heal quickly and easily, the smallest cold is like the flu to her. She was released from the hospital and about a week and half later she noticed her incision was red, hot and very sensitive to touch. Denise went back to the hospital and they determine she had an abscess. The plan was to do a procedure to drain the abscess but before that could occur the abscess ruptured. This put her back in the hospital for an additional 2 weeks. She is home now but still unable to return to work at this time. She has a wound that is still draining and requires multiple dressing changes daily, still in a decent amount of pain and generally fatigued. If this doesn't heal soon she will have to have an additional surgery to fix this. With the medical bills and daily living expenses, Denise being out of work for this length of time and for at least 8 more weeks is putting a financial strain on them.
