Denise's Fight and Journey

Denise Smith has been a lifelong educator and a fixture in the West Clermont community, working tirelessly as a speech and language pathologist in the school system, as well as serving multiple terms on the West Clermont School Board to help the district best serve its community. She has spent her professional career (not to mention her personal life) doing everything in her power to help others. Now, she and her family could use some help.
She was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. Swiftly, and decisively, she underwent a double mastectomy and was able to beat the cancer into remission. Two years ago, it returned as Stage 4 Metastic Breast Cancer. After undergoing many treatments and surgeries, while continuing to work and fulfill her duties, it has spread throughout her body and there is nothing medically eft to be done.
She continues to fight, but is unable to work anymore, and is currently under hospice care. Her husband, Pat, continues to work full time to ensure income is coming in, but unfortunately, she is at the point where she requires someone to be with her at all times.
Family, friends, and neighbors have graciously flown in, stopped by, and donated their time to ease this transition, but it is not a realistic or sustainable long-term solution. As such, a full-time caregiver has been hired. Her biggest needs are financing this care, as well as her health insurance and medical bills, as she is paying premiums out of pocket now.
