10 PAST 11 (film)

Donation protected
Hello! I'm Kayla Ozzy, a young multi-media artist.

In the past I've had my experimental writing published, and now I'd like to shift my creations to a visual medium.

I'm interested non-verbal communication of experience. I've previously studied the body as a capable narrator for unspeakable traumatic memories. My Grandma was diagnosed with Dementia in 2016, and I've noticed she is most clearly understood when she speaks through gesture and interaction with the material. This project uses cinematography to explore the narrative body of someone with Dementia and the corporeal language of memory.

Have you noticed the voice of the Dementia victim does not often make it to the big screen? My Grandma Shirley is an artist, but her ability share her unique ideas and creations is now limited. Like her, I am an artist, but unlike her, my art still has a comprehensible and conventional voice!!! Why wouldn't I use this voice to SPEAK TO THE WORLD!??

Therefore this short film will be submitted to Sundance 2020.
With your help, I can produce this short film and submit it by the deadline on SEPT. 6TH !

Your donations will be split into a budget of production (85%- to fund payment of actors/actresses, set construction, and filming/sound/editing equipment) and donation (15%).
YES! Not only are we making a film with creative benefits, but 15% of your funds will go straight to the Alzheimer's Society!(www.alzheimers.org.uk). If we make our goal of £1939 (Grandma's birth year!) that means about £300 of immediate donations!

Here's the even cooler part: from this campaign and until the end of time, I want 15% of the money this film makes to ALWAYS benefit Dementia research, so I'll be making routine donations to the Alzheimer's Society.

I feel blessed to communicate my story. Now, can you help me use art to show the world that Dementia victims can do the same?

Love and appreciation,

Kayla

P.S. To my friends and family in the USA donations in $$$ are perfectly fine! :)
