Dellas Cole's Lung Treatment

Back in March of 2013 Dellas was diagnosed with IPF... Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a type of lung disease that results in scarring (fibrosis) of the lungs for an unknown reason. Over time, the scarring gets worse and it becomes hard to take in a deep breath and the lungs cannot take in enough oxygen.
Since being diagnosed Dellas has to be less active and has increased difficulty breathing. This in itself is a difficult thing to swallow as Dellas loves to be involved and apart of all of our activities. Especially Drew's activities. Even walking up and down stairs, basic household chores, and yard work (which was something Dellas enjoyed doing) are difficult tasks.
Dellas has been a part of the Brookings community for 40 years. Dellas has also been greatly involved in the Sports world for over 35 years. He has dedicated a lot of his time to the Brookings Community/State of South Dakota. He has done this through his variety of broadcasts over the years. He is also known as “The Voice of the Bobcats”. The radio life has been his passion for many years. This disease has made it difficult, which is a hard thing for our family to see.
My mom has done a lot of research and even though there is no Cure. There are two options treatment and/or double lung transplant. She has found a treatment center down in Arizona. Along with finding this opportunity it includes a hefty cost. A single treatment alone costs $7000 which insurance doesn't cover. It is recommended that patients go through two treatments. This cost doesn't include travel, hotel stay, gas, and food that will be incurred too.
Dellas didn't want a fundraiser at first. Putting this out for all to read is not an easy thing for him. We are very determined to do whatever it takes to win. We love Dellas and aren't willing to give up!
