Decimation: A New Works Show

Donation protected
Decimation, written by Elise Peterson and directed by Ansel Lowry, is a new play that has been selected to be produced this April in the 2017 Cohen New Works Festival, presented by Broadway Bank. This show follows the journey of two young women, both emotionally and physically, through gang-run Austin, TX during the fallout of the apocalypse. The story tackles the problems associated with our society’s tendency to ignore rape culture, specifically rape on college campuses. We, as a team, believe this story and message are critical to be heard on the UT campus, but cannot do it without your support.

At this time, we have received minimal funding from the festival, but aim to raise at least $1200 to help offset construction, costume, lighting, printing, and other miscellaneous costs associated with this process. We will be buying lumber, paint, and props so we can construct our own set, pruchasing costumes from local second hand stores, renting multiple lighting fixtures, printing scripts, programs, posters, and dramatrugical packets, and creating a contingency budget so we can afford added expenses along the way. Our goal is to put on a fully produced production of this show, complete with costumes, lights, sets, sound, makeup, and audience engagement before and after the shows.

By supporting Decimation you are supporting both students and new work in the Austin area. All of our designers, actors, and creative team are either UT undergraduate students or recent graduates. This show aims to highlight not only amazing student work, but a fresh, new script created in Austin, for Austin. Please consider supporting this show not only to aid new artists, but to encourage new art in Austin.

Supporting Decimation is a low risk endeavor. Due to our inclusion in the 2017 Cohen New Works Festival presented by Broadway Bank we have been provided with both performance and rehearsal spaces. Donations, aid, and grants will enhance the production, allowing us to create an even more immersive experience for the audience.

Performances will occur the April 10th - 14th at the University of Texas, Austin in the department of Theatre and Dance’s Lab Theatre. Admission is free.

Every donor of 15$ or more will be mentioned and thanked in our program as either a bronze, silver, or gold level sponser.

We hope you consider supporting our production,
