Debbie Guetzke is fighting for her life, battling a rare and aggressive cancer. She first learned about her Appendix cancer in August of 2015. Her tumor was too large to remove, so she began a grueling bi-weekly chemotherapy regime in September 2015.
After 9 long and difficult months, in May of 2016, she underwent a 14 hour surgery that removed the tumor, along with many other organs that were affected by the cancer.
Debbie's surgeons said that the surgery was successful. After 12 days of recovery in the hospital, Debbie was able to go home to continue her recovery in her own apartment. Unfortunately, she ended up back in the hospital within days with a severe infection that kept her there for more than a month.
Once the infection was gone, Debbie returned home again. She continued on with her recovery for 8 more weeks and was able to return to work on a part-time basis in August of 2016.
Debbie was so happy to return to work, to a somewhat "normal" life again. She loves her job and truly enjoys working with her co-workers at Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin. She is extremely dedicated and hardworking. She has been with our company for more than 25 years and is truly part of our work family.
Sadly, in September of 2016, only a few weeks after returning to work, Debbie learned that the cancer returned and was found in the lining of her lung.
She has started chemotherapy once again. This time around is more debilitating and difficult to endure.
For the better part of the past year, Debbie has only been able to work part-time. Debbie is single and she lives alone. She does not have other income to help her with her extraordinary medical and living expenses.
Please help Debbie continue to her fight to survive. Please help her to claim victory in this awful fight against such a horrible and aggressive cancer. No amount is too small!
Debbie just celebrated her 48th Birthday. Please help to have many, many more.
