Hey everyone! I am creating this in hopes of getting a little help financially to help get answers for my 6 year old son.
from the age of 2 I started noticing a lot of abnormal behaviors such as banging his head off of things...walls, floors, sidewalks...whatever was close..:and not just once he would do so repeatedly until you physically stopped him. Around 4 things escalated pretty quickly to where he was throwing huge abnormal tantrums over sometimes nothing...he would kick walls, throw things, scream at the top of his lungs for sometimes an hour straight. He began threatening family members and became extremely aggressive both physically and verbally. At age 5, I have to admit I became afraid of my own son.
During this time I sought out help. Thinking this was some sort of phycological issue, he saw a child behavior specialist for over a year who eventually ran out of ideas after trying multiple things, he then referred us to a child phycologist who couldn’t come up with answers either. Someone mentioned diet and how much that could play into his behavior...at this point I decided hey why not try it!
We cut out gluten, sugars, dyes and all processed foods and within 48 hours I saw a completely different kid! He was happy, smiling and laughing and I knew we had to dig deeper. I took him to a gi doctor who tested him for genetic celiac which came back positive and I thought we had solved the problem with simple diet change.
after a few months, some of his behavior issues quickly showed back up without any diet changes. He was acting out aggressively at home and at school. I found out that due to the celiac, there could be a lot of digestive issues that he is fighting. I see how frustrated he is by all of this and he can’t control it and it broke my heart to see him like that and not know how to help him. Like any mom, I want him to be happy and healthy and be able to be a KID!
Having my own digestive issues, I decided it was time to dig until I found the answers. I have started taking him to my natural path doctor who recommended an IGG test and comprehensive stool test. We saved up money to do his IGG test which revealed his body has an autoimmune response to eggs, cows milk and casein (protein found in dairy products) we also had her do xrays which revealed a lot of inflammation in his digestive tract and an enlarged stomach.
At this point it is obvious that he has SOMETHING going on in there that very much effects his behavior. His doctor is leaning towards bacteria/yeast within the digestive tract. We need to have his comprehensive stool test done to get the rest of the puzzle pieces, which is a spendy send off test and will cost us $400. With my own medical bills/treatment, 3 kids and normal bills it’s tough to set aside the $400 in a timely manner so I’m hoping for a little help!
