Help the Devil's Dyke Network!

WHO WE ARE

The Devil's Dyke Network is an inclusive platform for poets, performers and artists dedicated to building community and bringing forward/generating positive cultural and political energies. The organizing group consists of a dozen poets, artists, filmmakers and activists, and we’re always wanting to welcome new people to come and perform their stuff!

WHAT WE DO

So far Devil's Dyke Network has brought three poetry nights of poetry and performance to Brighton's ONCA Gallery and The Rose Hill -- in August, October, and December. We showcased a mixture of older and newer talents among feminist women, gender non binary, lesbian and queer identified people of different origins and identities - artists who more often than not have difficult/complicated access to performing in other spaces. The Network started out of a desire to create a non-judgemental welcoming space for these artists to grow, develop, and amplify their stories.

WHAT IS THIS CROWDFUNDING FOR

In order to accommodate everyone  we embarked on a search for a bigger, accessible and non-institutionalised venue. We found a perfect fit in a partnership with Fabrica, a well known centre for contemporary art that works a lot with the local community.

Fabrica will allows us to:

- Host our event in a bigger venue with accessible toilets

- Welcome even more people without having to deny access

- Do justice to our visual artists by providing them with a suitable space for displaying their work

- More air for everyone to breathe and be in!

Since we're committed to accessibility for everyone we have a no door charge policy to remove barriers of exclusion as much as possible, and that's why we need your support: help us covering the costs for our new home!

Our goal of £620 will cover the costs for this year's next 4 events.
Any money that you donate will be going towards venue hire and staff costs. Fabrica is a non-profit charity and our partnership means they can support our idea with as low a charge as possible, which would be £155 per night.

If we exceed our goal we will use the extra money to organize solo pop-up shows, for printing flyers and web hosting fees.

Anything that we can get will be incredibly helpful! We know that our community (and our  organizing group too) includes people with not a lot of cash to spare, so whatever you can contribute is great and please share!

Ask your rich friends and annoying colleagues! Guilt-trip heterosexuals into giving! Introduce us to your Bette Porter-type ex girlfriends! Eat your landlords and give us their money! #eatyourlandlord
