Donnie and Donna's Health Fund

My name is Donna Jackson. In December, my husband, Donnie Jackson, was diagnosed with liver failure. During this time, he spent two weeks in St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont, Texas and a week in St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. We now have many medical bills coming due.  While going through this rough time, Donnie did not have insurance to cover these bills. A few months ago, we were able to get him insured through the marketplace, but this does not help with past bills. Donnie is currently waiting to be placed on a liver transplant list in Houston, and if he is fortunate enough, we are to relocate to the Medical center for a few months. Insurance will not cover this surgery, life-long medications, or the cost of an apartment for the post-transplant treatment period. We are hoping he will become a candidate in the near future, but in the meantime, we continue to make trips back and forth to Houston. Since I am working, I’ve had to take off many days to be a caregiver for my husband, but sick days are unfortunately running low. I will soon have to be docked for days taken off to take care of him.  I find it extremely difficult to share my personal story with the world, but my husband is my first and foremost concern.
