Give to Help Boston's Homeless

During a cold winter ten years ago, a small group of Needham residents formed Generic Ministry, a non-profit dedicated to helping destitute people make it through the night.

Each week we travel the streets and alleys of Boston to distribute food, water, clean clothes, blankets and toiletries to our homeless friends. Along with tangible items, the crew supplies a strong dose of friendship, respect and encouragement.

On Tuesday nights you can find our van parked on Tremont Street by the Boston Common, where men and women, young and old, line up to receive our offerings. On Wednesday nights the van plies the streets of the financial district and other downtown spots looking for folks camped out with their meager belongings.

To prepare for our missions, we spend hours every week sorting and storing donated clothing, stock the van, make sandwiches, and organize clothing drives.

We operate on an extremely small annual budget of $10,000, which covers the cost of operating and maintaining our van, rent for the space we need to store donated supplies, and costs for necessary purchases.

We are raising funds for 2015-2016 and are counting on YOU to help.

Please donate generously and help us sustain our service to the less fortunate.
