Neera’s Eye Surgery

Donation protected
Neera just can’t catch a break! Neera was found chained to a tree with chickens thrown at her for food. She had no shelter or interaction with the world. Since joining DBBR, she has struggled to find a forever home. Now we learn that she has an indolent ulcer in her right eye. Indolent ulcers are a specific type corneal ulcer in which the outer layer of the cornea (the epithelium) will not adhere to the underlying layer (the stroma). These ulcers can persist for months if left untreated, causing pain and scar formation. We have been quoted $1100 to have a Diamond Burr debridement performed which will use a diamond encrusted burr to remove the diseased epithelium and membrane. This can typically be done with topical anesthetic +/- sedation, results in less scarring and has low risk of recurrence. Please help us to treat Neera’s eye! After having such a hard start to life, she deserves to live pain-free! Please donate & share.
