David Stump's Recovery Fund

$3,170 of $30,000 goal

Raised by 41 people in 8 months
Created October 9, 2017
Hi everyone---On October 2nd 2017 David Stump, a husband, father, brother, friend and Engineer of IFD Engine 4 (C Shift) suffered a severe stroke.

He was working his side job, building a deck, when symptoms appeared and he was taken by ambulance to Morgan County IU. As his condition deteriorated he was lifelined to IU Methodist.  There, he was intubated and underwent surgery to remove a clot that had completely blocked an artery in his brain. After his surgery he was moved up to ICU, where he is currently.

David will be off work for a lengthy amount of  time from the firehouse and will be unable to work his side job, which provides a supplemental income that his family needs.  He will be needing to spend some time in a rehab hospital when he is released from Methodist as well.  His wife, Julia, has taken time off of work and away from nursing school to be with him at the hospital (she is a true rock star & an incredible woman, fyi)! It is unknown what the medical bills will look like as it is still early on in his recovery.

As you can imagine, there are many unknowns and uncertainties right now for David, Julia and the family. We would love to lessen the stress and worries of some of the financial burdens they will be faced with. I know we can rally together and pull through for the Stumps, just like they would do for any one of us! As much as a financial donation is greatly appreciated, your prayers are also welcomed. Please continue to pray for God to restore and heal David's body, mind and speech. Pray for wisdom and answers that are still needed from the doctors and nurses. Pray for God to give Julia the strength (mentally & physically) to get through each day. Let's pray for Abby and the rest of the family, that they know the Lord is walking alongside all of them during this difficult time. Let's pray for a complete recovery on David's part and a quick one at that! He's a fighter & with the help of all their people, we can make the journey to his recovery a bit more bearable.

"...and let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith." Hebrews 12:1-2

Heavenly Father,

We don't know why you've set this race before us, but we trust that you will give us all the things needed to finish this race---to be able to cross that finish line to a full recovery. We know you have a plan & a purpose to bring good out of this suffering. Help us to cast our worries and anxious thoughts down at the cross. Help us to remain patient and confident in Your plans. Help us to fix our eyes on you, Jesus. Thank you so much for David & Julia. Continue to be with them every step of the way. In Jesus name---Amen.
